Humans are generally considered to be "hardwired" to dislike injustice, meaning we have a natural tendency to react negatively to situations where fairness is violated. Mindful of this, fairness in the workplace is essential if we want a motivated workforce.

Visiting health & social care services as an executive director for almost 25 years, I have spoken to hundreds of staff, and one of the biggest complaints I heard was that they came to work right time, had a good sickness/absence record, plus were committed to good practice. Some of their colleagues, however, didn’t share this approach and no action was taken leaving them feeling demoralised and, in some cases, contemplating leaving.

2Manage People Management courses include systems to monitor practice on shift and take supportive action to correct shortcomings engendering fairness in the workforce and reducing the risk of demoralisation plus increased staff turnover. These courses are designed for Directors/Managers along with supervisory staff (Team Leaders, Senior Carers, etc) at CQC registered Care Homes, Hospices and Independent Hospitals.
